About

Health and social care is one of the biggest employers in the UK with around 1.4 million people employed by the NHS and 1.6 million employed in social care.

Our vocational course offers you the chance to develop knowledge and skills about current and popular topics that people face in the health and social care sector and everyday life. It works well for people who learn through both coursework and exams to allow you to showcase your knowledge and apply it to real life scenarios and situations.

What will I study

You will study lifespan development, working in health and social care, research, safe practice, sociology for health and meeting individuals care and support needs.

The extended diploma covers more direct health topics looking at human anatomy, nutrition and dementia care. This qualification also requires you to complete 100 hours work experience.


How will I be assessed?

If you chose to study the BTEC Diploma you will be assessed over 8 units which have been chosen for you to give the best variety of knowledge.
If you have chosen to study the BTEC extended diploma you will be assessed over 13 units going more in depth about particular topics in health.
