Our Values & Ethos

Encouraging Personal Development
Being a sixth form student is one of the most exciting times of your life. At Macmillan Academy Post 16 we aim to provide a vibrant learning community where the emphasis is on encouraging each individual’s personal development, as well as striving towards academic excellence.

Helping with Destinations & Next Steps
Our staff are on hand to provide on going careers advice and guidance throughout your time at the academy. We offer many opportunities, offering you one to one career planning, career talks, resources, links to employers and careers events. You can also take advantage of specialist workshops to help you develop your interview skills, your CV and making the most of work experience.

Offering an exciting fulfilling student experience
We don’t want anything to come between you and your ambitions. If you require help managing your time, need guidance on revision, or you are dealing with any learning difficulty, you will get the right support. You can join the Team Macmillan sports department, go on trips in the UK or abroad, or take part in activities related to your studies. You can also be part of the Student Union which organises social events right through the year.

Providing Excellent Teaching & Learning
Our teachers are friendly, experienced and real experts in their subjects. Above all, they are committed to helping you get the grades you need for whatever you plan to do next. We are very proud that many of our students exceed their target grades.

Providing meaningful relationships, teamwork & collaboration
We believe in working together. Students and staff work together to foster a real sense of community and mutual respect. We also believe in working closely with parents/carers to ensure that our students become confident, mature, responsible and valued members of society.
