Duke of Edinburgh Award
The DofE Award is an internationally recognised scheme which helps young people push themselves
personally and physically to achieve more than they ever thought possible. Over a period of 6 to 12
months, you will need to devote your own time to new activities, new skills and two mountainous
expeditions to achieve your award. You will need to volunteer an hour of your week to help out
in your community, another hour each week is devoted to a physical activity, and finally, a
third hour is spent learning a new skill, for example driving, though it could be anything!
Universities and employers value the DofE award and the qualities young people gain from doing it. You will become more organised, more independent as well as a team player and a more resilient individual. When you complete your Gold Award, you will have the opportunity to have it presented at the Palace in the presence of a member of the Royal Family.
